Fair Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Fair Use Policy forms part of our Terms of Service (clause 7, Acceptable Use) and applies to your use of Bookkeeper Dashboard, including our AI assistants Sage (compliance) and Paige (marketing and brand). It exists because AI usage, document generation, and third-party integrations draw on paid, metered resources — our aim is to keep the Service fast and affordable for everyone by preventing any single account from consuming a disproportionate share of it.

2. Reasonable use

Your subscription entitles you to use Sage, Paige, document generation, e-signing, and integrations for the ordinary day-to-day running of a bookkeeping or BAS practice — the volume of activity a genuine practice of your plan's size would generate. It is not intended for bulk, automated, or resale use, or for volumes materially outside normal practice activity for your plan tier.

3. What counts as excessive or misuse

Examples of use that falls outside this policy include:

• Scripting, automating, or bulk-calling Sage or Paige outside normal in-app use (e.g. via the API or browser automation) to generate content at a volume no individual practice would need.
• Using Sage or Paige to generate content unrelated to your bookkeeping/BAS practice or your clients' needs.
• Sharing a single account or login across multiple unrelated practices to avoid additional subscriptions.
• Using the Service, or content generated through it, to build or train a competing product.
• Any activity that degrades performance or availability for other users.

4. What we'll do

If we detect usage that appears to fall outside this policy, we will generally contact you first to understand your use case and, where appropriate, discuss a plan better suited to it. We reserve the right to throttle, rate-limit, or temporarily suspend AI features on an account while we investigate, and — for clear or repeated breaches — to suspend or terminate access under clause 13 of the Terms of Service. We will always try to reach you before taking action, except where immediate action is needed to protect the Service or other users.

5. Plan limits

Where a plan has specific usage limits (e.g. a monthly cap on AI messages or document generations), these will be displayed in your account settings or at signup. This policy applies in addition to, not instead of, any such stated limits.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We will notify you of material changes by email or via the dashboard.
